Home Sweet Hope on the Potomac…
Our Potomac Cottage iw wonderful... We are perched on a landing over the famed river... Tranquility at the utmost. Yesterday we ate at a cute French Bistro for an apres midi snack. We saw our first marmot in the wild crossing the road. Then we settled in to "Rest, Relax and Recharge".... Today beckons with a trip to Harper's Ferry, the Antietam Battlefield, and just hanging out in this beautiful setting. This place comes with a canoe and a couple of kayaks... Don''t know if we'll use them, since the current here seems pretty swift.
We’re having a real blast!!!
Neither of us slept well on our "red eye" flight here! We were in economy a couple of sets away from the aft bathrooms... Ugh! We won't do that again! We arrived in DC and picked up our Jetta and took off to meet the Piersons at a local diner. We have so much fun with them... Lots of memories to share. They took us to the Smithsonian's Udvar Hazy Center... We saw incredible things... with "old docents" explaining some of them! Unbelievably, we saw the real Space Shuttle Discovery...and a real Air France Concorde!!!!

I forgot to mention…
I had my third detached retina on March 6th... thus the strange looking contraption the grandkids are climbing all over! I had to be face down for 2 weeks... I hope it works this time. No bungie jumping for me. Also I included photos Elliot sent me on a trip he and his sweet girl friend, Ivy, took while hitchhiking through Peru!
Trip to Appalachians begins tomorrow
We are going to visit friends and family on this trip as well as see some areas and sites we've
never been to before... We will start off in Washington DC and meet up with college friends, Jay and JoAnne Pierson. Then we begin our travels into West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia... finally returning to Washington DC. We return home on May 20th.
Lots of winters weather
Lots of time for sewing, puzzles, reading, shoveling snow! Also got together for Eric's 51st birthday and Easter... We took the youngest Thomassons to see a musical and to visit the capitol and get some old time photos taken. We were able to travel on the train through the Sierras with our wonderful friends, the Scatenas! We got to be with Sophia and Josiah and to see them married on April 22nd!!! We saw lots of family including Brazils, Thomassons, Schauers, and Christiansons. I was able to enjoy a Bible study with good friends. Finally we celebrated our 55th anniversary overlooking a waterfall in Nevada City!
Spring 2023…
We have had many adventures this spring... In January we traveled to the National Jewish Health Center in Denver to get a second opinion on whether I had pulmonary fibrosis and whether I needed to continue the OFEV medicine that was causing me so much discomfort. We praise God for the three full days we spent there in which the doctors encouraged us not to take the diagnosis as solid fact and to go on living my life abundantly every day. We are doing so!! While there we got to see most of the Colorado Thomassons. It was a brief but meaningful visit!
