West Virginia is so beautiful…. Lots of country roads, quaint villages, and green rolling hills..

This is a beautiful state! We really wish we could stay here longer!! We are now at our second Airbnb...Both have been really special. This one has two beautiful decks and is just a short walk to the historic town of Lewisburg.
Since writing last, we have done some great touristing! I absolutely loved visiting Antietam, the site of thew greatest loss of life in America in one day. The battle took 23,000 American lives. A lot of the battle was fought in a sunken farm road in which the two armies struggled for control. The main generals were Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson for the south and McClellan for the north. What I really loved was a class of students down on their bellies re-enacting the battle scene. I alwys loved taking my students on field trips and getting them to imagine they were actual participants in the history of the place. Jim climbed up the observation tower and took some photos of the site... cornfields are already harvested and are bare. You can see the tranquil beauty of the land. A Burnside Bridge has been rebuilt where much of the loss of life occurred in just twelve hours on September 17, 1862.
