400 BC

Today we saw ruins from the Etruscans.... (Tuscany was named after them).  They inhabited this area and left a few structures behind.  I will include a photo of Jim in front of an ancient Etruscan bridge.

We visited two hill towns today... Volterra and San Gimigiano.  Volterra was my favorite.  The views of the countryside were spectacular.  Both these towns suffered many sieges from barbarians, as well as losing up to 3/4 of their population to the Black Plague.  They built huge towers to withstand attacks.

Yesterday I mentioned that most folks live in multistoried apartments, so today I shot a few photos of them while driving by.  We have so much to be thankful for in America!!!
