Souvenirs from Germany

"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps," is Proverbs 16:9... I think it's going to be my new memory verse! We planned, but God was in control! We are very thankful for God's provisions along our way through Europe! We could write a traveller's guide about all the things we've learned. We both loved traveling on our own... The huge tour groups and buses do not fit our personalities! Our favorite memories were mingling with people from other cultures!

Eagle has landed in DC!

Very tired... But thankful to be here. Thanks so much for all your prayers!

Once upon a time...

Mozart walked these streets! Gorgeous cathedrals, shops, views... Loved Salzburg ... And finally at 11:30 we tried to exit. No go! They lock up the town at 11 each day until 6. We saw no signs warning of this ! After an hour and a half and 100 euros to the polizia... We were able to exit... Then on our way home, we stopped in a little village which was locked down... Soldiers at the gates with machine guns! Wow! Love our land of the free! Photos include a medieval horse wash! That tickled our funny bones!!!

First Class

We are stretched out like lizards sunbathing on a rock.... We were served our choice of 4 entrees on a table cloth... With real dishes and silver, etc!! This is the way to travel! We will be on US soil in 5 1/2 hours... We are very thankful for our country! Yesterday we got a taste of life in other lands... We traveled to Salzburg Austria... It is enchanting and unique. We got there around 8:30 am and followed our gps to the "historic centre"... It led us up a very very narrow curving "trail" up to the top of the fort overlooking the city... The road was so narrow we actually touched both mirrors ... It was straight up and straight down! Needless to say, we were very fortunate to find a way back down.... The views were million dollar ones! I'll attach photos!

Off to Munich

We are checking out of Seefeld and moving on to Munich now... In preparation for our flight to the US on Friday. We wish we could stay ... It's just so beautiful here! The countryside is verdant green with castles on the hillsides, the Alps rising majestically and the tiny burgs covered with frescoes.... The only thing we haven't liked about Bavaria is the food... You can only handle so much sausage and kraut! Thanks so much for your prayers. We do feel them!

Seen 1 castle --- seen 'em all

Not really!
Around every other curve in the road is another castle... And they're all the real thing... I'm sending photos from around here! Yesterday we went to mass in the most beautiful cathedral yet! The congregation sang the same songs we sing at home, but in German. It was so beautiful it brought me to tears. We are close to the border of several countries, so we drove into Italy and saw the famous reifenstein castle. We went through Innsbruck, but Mittenwald is our all time favorite. We still don't know when our flight home will be! They have said it would be safe for me to fly by September 1st!

On the road again

Well, I was released from the hospital and we are now in Seefeld, Austria, which is incredibly picturesque... We are both exhausted so we are going to lay low for this week before we fly home. Everything here is like make believe.... I'll write more when I feel
More refreshed! Love to all...

Checking out tomorrow

We have decided to check out tomorrow morning. The physical therapist thinks I am doing well, and there are few services here on weekends. Please pray that I do not get any infection. We will probably not have much Internet access once we leave here. I have never stayed in a hospital before except to give birth... I have no desire to repeat this experience. It has been very humbling. I am sending photos we have taken while here! Love to all!

Hurry up & wait

There's absolutely nothing that we can do to speed up my recovery ... I guess! We are learning so much about the German people, and I've really enjoyed getting to know my German roommate. I have loved all the emails! Thanks so much. I haven't gotten around to answering most of them, but we want you all to know we feel your love and prayers! The ATM ate our debit card, so Jim is out trying to get it back.... The "chief" doctor says I need to stay until early next week.... So we are having a bit of a pity party... I know I need to keep my gaze upward!!!

Now... Learning how to use "sticks"

Am I ever stylish or what! Today I learn how to walk.... With sticks. I have a nice roommate who speaks English! I took a photo of one of my nurses... Who reminds me of Katie Schauer Allen!

Surgery-germany

We are in Klinikum university hospital germany, at the base of the alps. They specialize in joint repair--God is good!

Melody is going into surgery now---thank you for your prayers

The German Language

Driving through Germany is a kick. Words we consider "four letter words" seem to be everywhere! Their whole way of talking here is abrupt. Gestapo style. No smiles... Just basic no frills communication!! Check out the road sign and potty sign and you'll see what I mean!

Fairy tale land

We took photos on our way here.
