Today we head out for Italy.  In Cinque Terre we are staying in a house that does not have wifi, so I may not update this blog for a few days... Unless I can use the network (Verizon )....  

Monaco, Eze

Today we drove the 3 Corniches.... made famous by the Monte Carlo races... Prince Ranier and Princess Grace.  Beautiful scenery... and scary twists and turns.  Walked through 

Monte Carlo and the village of Eze.  We really are glad we stayed here in Villefranche.. Much less congested.  Feels very swanky watching the yachts sail in and out of the harbor.

The weather is mild...we left our doors open last night.  Still no rain...some sun, but also lots of clouds!

Villefranche sur la Mer

Very pretty here... Came through huge traffic jam to get here... Fans going to a rugby game.  Threatening to rain.  Wonderful view from our room!

Heading to French Riviera tomorrow

We loved our time here in Provence and would highly recommend to anyone... the great apartment we have enjoyed for a week!  Thursday we really enjoyed Vaison la Romaine.  We viewed the Roman ruins up close, watched the townsfolk play boche ball (boules).  We tried out gallettes which are meals with a buckwheat crepe as its base.  Delicious ...  Shopped, enjoyed.

Today we traveled to Avignon which was once the papal headquarters.  Went on a tourist train, shopped, saw the sites.  It is a very cosmopolitan feeling town.  We loved winding along the Rhone River!

Pont du Gard and Les Baux

Did quite a bit of driving today... Saw Pont du Gard which was really amazing.  Also went up to top of Les Baux... Castle and village!  Really ready to relax tomorrow!

Bon nuit au Provence!

We love it here... Yesterday we took the Route de Vin through the vineyards and countryside...  Loved the medieval villages... The churches, the customs..  Today we had a wonderful tour by an English speaking woman that was unbelievably good.  She was so articulate, and basically recounted 2000 years of history in our 3 1/2 hours with her.  We have lots of adventures to share when we get home!
